Myriam Hoyer is a video director and specializes in the broadcast of operas, concerts and ballets. With her team, she keeps a faithful record of their work, interprets the composite effect and creates a spirited cinematic translation of the performance.
She was born in East Berlin and grew up in a musical family. She studied at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler majoring in piano and music theatre direction as well as the specialty “Music Theatre Direction in the Media”. After her diploma in 2001, she gained experience as assistant director worldwide on over 100 television recordings of classical music. Parallel to this work she started to direct herself.
As a TV and video director, Myriam Hoyer has designed, Europe-wide, over 90 video films for cinema, TV, DVD, Blu-ray and internet. She has translated numerous highly acclaimed stagings into video films, amongst them several productions by Andrea Breth (La Traviata, Jakob Lenz, Il Prigioniero & Das Gehege, The Turn of the Screw), Romeo Castellucci (Orphée et Eurydice, The Magic Flute, Jeanne d’Arc au Bûcher), Laurent Pelly (Cendrillon, The Golden Cockerel), Joël Pommerat (Au Monde, Pinocchio), Mariusz Treliński (Powder Her Face, Die tote Stadt) and Krzysztof Warlikowski (Lulu, Don Giovanni, From the House of the Dead, Elektra). In Bayreuth, she directed the TV live broadcast of Frank Castorf’s legendary interpretation of Der Ring des Nibelungen. She elaborated the cinematic equivalences for the distinctive staging languages of Pierre Audi (Tamerlano), Mariame Clément (Don Pasquale), Alvis Hermanis (Jenůfa), Peter Konwitschny (La Traviata), Tobias Kratzer (Lucio Silla, Moïse et Pharaon), Hans Neuenfels (South Pole), Carlos Padrissa (Karl V.) and Ralf Pleger & Alexander Polzin (Tristan und Isolde). She was privileged to enjoy especially intense artistic collaborations with the choreographers Mats Ek (Utvandrarna) and John Neumeier (Beethoven Project, Ghost Light, Le Songe d'une nuit d'été, Anna Karenina, Dona Nobis Pacem).
More than 15 video films were made especially for the La Monnaie / De Munt opera house in Brussels. Further locations were the Bayerische Staatsoper München, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Hamburg State Opera ,the Felsenreitschule in Salzburg, the Warsaw Grand Theatre, the Dramaten in Stockholm, the Berliner Philharmonie, the arena of Verona and the festivals in Baden-Baden, Bayreuth and Glyndebourne.
DVDs and Blu-rays were released by the labels Alpha Classics, Arthaus Musik, Bel Air Classiques, C-Major, Naxos and Opus Arte. Among the TV and streaming partners, there were Arte, Mezzo, Operavision, ORF, RTBF, SKY, SVT, SWR, ZDF and 3sat.
Myriam Hoyer est une réalisatrice spécialisée dans la retransmission d’opéra, de concert et de ballet. Avec son équipe, elle montre et interprète la création collective et crée une traduction vivante de la représentation.
Elle est née à Berlin-Est et a grandi dans une famille de musiciens. Elle a étudié à la Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler le piano et la mise en scène d’opéra comme matière principale et la mise en scène d’opéra dans les médias comme matière complémentaire. Après avoir obtenu son diplôme en 2001, elle a acquis de l’expérience en tant que scripte et conseillère musicale dans le monde entier pour de nombreuses émissions de télévision de musique classique. En parallèle, elle a commencé la réalisation.
En tant que réalisatrice, Myriam Hoyer a créé, essentiellement en Europe, plus de 90 films vidéo pour le cinéma, la télévision, le DVD, le Blu-ray et Internet. Elle a traduit en vidéo de nombreuses mises en scène emblématiques, parmi elles plusieurs productions d’Andrea Breth (La Traviata, Jakob Lenz, Il Prigioniero & Das Gehege, The Turn of the Screw), Romeo Castellucci (Orphée et Eurydice, La Flûte enchantée, Jeanne d’Arc au Bûcher), Laurent Pelly (Cendrillon, Le Coq d’or), Joël Pommerat (Au Monde, Pinocchio), Mariusz Treliński (Powder Her Face, Die tote Stadt) et Krzysztof Warlikowski (Lulu, Don Giovanni, De la maison des morts). Á Bayreuth, elle a réalisé la retransmission de Der Ring des Nibelungen dans l’interprétation légendaire de Frank Castorf. Elle a mis en image les puissantes productions de Pierre Audi (Tamerlano), Mariame Clément (Don Pasquale), Alvis Hermanis (Jenůfa), Peter Konwitschny (La Traviata), Tobias Kratzer (Lucio Silla, Moïse et Pharaon), Hans Neuenfels (South Pole), Carlos Padrissa (Karl V.) et Ralf Pleger & Alexander Polzin (Tristan und Isolde). Myriam Hoyer ist Bildregisseurin und auf die Videoübertragung von Oper, Konzert und Ballett spezialisiert. Mit ihrem Team dokumentiert und interpretiert sie das künstlerische Gemeinschaftswerk und erschafft eine lebendige filmische Übersetzung der Aufführung.

Sie übersetzte zahlreiche charismatische Inszenierungen in Videofilme, darunter mehrere Regiearbeiten von Andrea Breth (La Traviata, Jakob Lenz, Il Prigioniero & Das Gehege, The Turn of the Screw), Romeo Castellucci (Orphée et Eurydice, Die Zauberflöte, Jeanne d’Arc au Bûcher), Laurent Pelly (Cendrillon, Der Goldene Hahn), Joël Pommerat (Au Monde, Pinocchio), Mariusz Treliński (Powder Her Face, Die tote Stadt) und Krzysztof Warlikowski (Lulu, Don Giovanni, Aus einem Totenhaus, Elektra). Bei den Bayreuther Festspielen führte sie Fernsehregie bei der live-Übertragung von Frank Castorfs legendärer Interpretation von Der Ring des Nibelungen. Sie verfilmte die starken Regiesprachen von Pierre Audi (Tamerlano), Mariame Clément (Don Pasquale), Alvis Hermanis (Jenůfa), Peter Konwitschny (La Traviata), Tobias Kratzer (Lucio Silla, Moïse et Pharaon), Hans Neuenfels (South Pole), Carlos Padrissa (Karl V.) und Ralf Pleger & Alexander Polzin (Tristan und Isolde). Besonders intensive künstlerische Zusammenarbeit erlebte sie mit den Choreografen Mats Ek (Utvandrarna) und John Neumeier (Beethoven-Projekt, Ghost Light, Ein Sommernachtstraum, Anna Karenina, Dona Nobis Pacem).
